Central Defeats Resilient East Paulding Raiders Varsity
East Paulding Raiders Varsity fought back after falling down by five runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-5 defeat to Central on Saturday. The Raiders scored three runs on a home run in the fifth inning.
East Paulding was right in it until Central singled in the fourth inning. In the first inning, Central got their offense started when #13 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Central pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth #8 singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, #9 doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and #2 homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. The Raiders scored three runs in the fifth inning. The team scored its runs on an RBI home run by Cayden Warren.
#8 led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Central. The fireballer surrendered five runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Bri Cazares was in the pitcher’s circle for the Raiders. The righty allowed 12 hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out five and walking zero. Abby Pendergrass threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
East Paulding Raiders Varsity launched two home runs on the day. Addie Heal went deep in the third inning. Warren had a dinger in the fifth inning. East tallied seven hits in the game. Graci Summers, Warren, and Heal each had multiple hits for the Raiders. Heal, Warren, and Summers each collected two hits to lead East.
Central saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. #32, #2, #20, and #13 all managed multiple hits for Central. Central was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. #13 had the most chances in the field with nine.
