Alexander Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
East Paulding Raiders fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 3-0 loss to the Alexander Cougars on Monday. The Cougars took the lead on an error in the first inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Alexander pitchers struck out 15, while East Paulding sat down six. Alexander got things moving in the first inning. An error scored one run for the Cougars. A double by Hannah Davis in the third inning was a positive for East Paulding.
#9 toed the rubber for Alexander. The Cougars pitcher went seven innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out 15 and walking one. Bri Cazares was in the circle for East Paulding. The righty went five and a third innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out four. Abby Pendergrass threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.
Kayla Berry went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Raiders in hits. Alexander High tallied ten hits on the day. #6, #5, and #9 all had multiple hits. Alexander was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. #14 made the most plays with 15.
