Heal’s Walk-Off Picture Perfect Ending In East Paulding’s Region Victory Over Alexander
East Paulding Raiders defeated the Alexander Cougars 3-2 on Wednesday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at two with the Raiders batting in the bottom of the eighth when Addie Heal singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Abby Pendergrass struck out one, while the Cougar’s Jordan Eslinger sat down nine. Pendergrass earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Raiders. Pendergrass lasted eight innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one. Eslinger was in the pitcher’s circle for Alexander. The pitcher went seven and a third innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out nine and walking zero.
East Paulding collected eight hits on the day. Madison Moreland and Heal all collected multiple hits. Moreland went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead East Paulding Raiders in hits. Katelyn Johnston led Alexander with two hits in four at bats.
The Raiders’ win ended with the presentation of the GHSA AAAAAA Region First Place trophy!
